When Sierra and Scott first started working with me, they requested three things for their elopement: fall leaves, mountain views, and visiting a fire tower.
I loved that last request and the reason behind it. These two are wildland fire fighters for the National Forest Service, and they wanted to incorporate this big part of their lives into their elopement day somehow.
As I searched for locations that would fit their vision, I couldn’t help but thinking, “what if I could find a fire tower they could stay in?!” They were originally wanting to elope in New Mexico, but I decided to look nearby in SW Colorado because it’s a great place for fall leaves and mountain views.
After some serious searching (one of my favorite parts of being an elopement planner), I found the PERFECT place. A rentable fire tower surrounded by aspen trees and with a fantastic view of nearby mountains. Every box was checked!
Sierra and Scott had such a lovely, laid back approach to their elopement day. Even though it ended up raining for the entirety of the day (we got one 30-minute break from the storm), they had the best attitudes!
When we were planning the day, they said they wanted the afternoon to be pretty relaxed and unstructured. They wanted to explore how they normally would if they were out for a hike together. So I planned out the important parts of the day, and left the rest open!
You’ll see in the photos that so much thoughtful personalization went into their elopement. No element was there without a reason. And I think that’s the key to having a really unique experience that feels totally you.
Everything about the setting was pure autumnal magic. The air was crisp and cool, the breeze rustled through the forest, and the yellow aspen leaves brought a brightness to everything.
The fire tower and its neighboring cabin were tucked away in the landscape and felt peaceful and remote.
